KitchenAid Dishwasher Repair – How to Replace the Tine Pivot

“Hi it’s Steve. Today we’d like to show you how to change
a tine pivot on your dishwasher. Over time the plastic may dry out and crack
and the time may not be stable, it’s a really easy job to change let me show you how we
do it. Our first step in this repair will be to remove
all the items on that upper dish rack, and then pull that right forward enough that we
can access the part. Now with the rack fully extend, locate the
tine pivot that you’re going to replace, you’ll note that it is clamped over the moveable
tine and also latched onto the wires on the upper rack. If it’s still intact, we’re simply going to
snap that off, remove the old one and discard it. Now when reinstalling it, we want to make
sure that we have the rear hook under the cross wire on the rack, this saddle portion
will sit over the tine itself, and then just pivot it down and latch it onto the upper
wire to lock it in place. Tilt your tine into an upright position, and
then we can slide the rack back into the dishwasher. Reload it and the repair is complete.”
