Catalan Tomato Bread with Spanish Anchovies

The way they serve bread over in Catalunya Spain is so delicious pan con tomate tomato rubbed bread it is so simple to make yet it has such a great flavor to it bienvenidos welcome to Spain on a Fork today we’re making Catalan tomato bread with Spanish anchovies I’m gonna show you guys my twist on this Catalan classic to create an extraordinary tapas appetizer this dish is very easy to make has such an incredible flavor to it and it’s done in well under 30 minutes now there are 2 key ingredients to this dish the first one is the anchovies make sure you use some high-quality anchovies I’m gonna be using some from the north of Spain from Cantabria considered my many some of the best in the world you’ll find a link in the description box below where you can get some and the second thing is the olive oil make sure you use a high-quality olive oil this is the essence of this dish I’m gonna be using Apollo’s sierra organic extra virgin olive oil this California based olive oil is so amazing it’s so perfect for this dish this is the kind of stuff I’m always talking about again you’ll find a link in the description box below where you guys can get this olive oil and oh yes on a last note before we get started today’s recipe was requested to me by one of my subscribers if there’s something you would like to make let me know let me know in the comments box below alright folks let’s get started rinse 3 ripe tomatoes under cold running water pat the tomatoes dry with a dish cloth cut each tomato into 4 quarters cut off the stem from each quarter add the cut tomatoes into a food processor grab 2 cloves of garlic remove the skins cut each one in half and add to the food processor measure out a 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil pour it over the tomatoes and garlic season with sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper run the food processor for 2 minutes until you reach a creamy tomato puree cut a baguette into 1-inch thick slices heat a grilling pan with a medium heat once hot add the slices of bread (cook in batches) after 3 minutes flip the breads and cook for another 3 minutes transfer the toasted breads to a cutting board add 1-2 tablespoons of the tomato puree on each bread grab a can of Spanish anchovies add one anchovy on top of each bread (I twisted mine) add the breads to a serving dish grab a handful of fresh parsley finely chop it and sprinkle over the breads ok guys our tapas appetizer is done look how beautiful these little guys came out I´m gonna give it a try and let you guys know how they turned out here we go beautiful combination of flavors so simple but so good that tomato puree with the olive oil and the raw garlic and then let me tell you those Spanish anchovies what a beautiful flavor and texture to them the whole thing works so well together amazing combination you guys saw it very easy to make the perfect tapas appetizer for any occasion if you enjoyed today´s video hit that like button leave me a comment below and if you´re not subscribed remember to subscribe until the next time…Hasta Luego!!
