Beth’s Appetizers for Parties | ENTERTAINING WITH BETH

– Hey guys, today’s
video is being dedicated to subscriber iheartangelawillis. Okay iheart, you asked me for
a mini series on appetizers, and I’ve got just the thing for you. I’m gonna show you how to
make three of my favorite quick and easy appetizers
that look impressive, but actually take minutes to put together. So first up is my Goat Cheese Log with
Rosemary and Balsamic Glaze. Balsamic glaze is now
more and more available at your grocery stores. You find it in the actual vinegar aisle, usually next to the balsamic vinegar. What it is is actually balsamic vinegar that has been reduced down to
create kind of a thick syrup. All you do is take a log of goat cheese, put it on a platter, then you’re gonna drizzle it with a little bit of balsamic glaze. And then the final step is just add some freshly chopped
rosemary over the top, and this time of year if
you grow your own rosemary, you will find that it
will start to blossom and it will have these
really pretty purple flowers, so when I clip it from my garden, I always try to make sure that I get some rosemary with a flower on it, because it makes for a wonderful garnish. And to go with your goat cheese, I recommend either some raisin crackers, or some raisin bread. Anything that has raisin in it is going to be a wonderful complement
to the goat cheese and the balsamic glaze. There you have it,
instant elegant appetizer that took minutes to put together. So next up, my Homemade Olive Bar. Everybody likes a good
olive at a cocktail party, they’re just a wonderful complement with all kinds of beverages. So it’s really easy to make
them a little bit more elegant just with some store-bought jarred olives. I’ll start with the black kalamata olives, and you’re gonna drain those, put them in a bowl, and then add some fresh lemon zest. It adds a wonderful
freshness to the olives, and it looks so pretty too. Then the next olive we’re gonna use is a green olive stuffed with garlic. Gonna toss them with
some herbs de provence, you’re gonna give that a good stir, then put those in a little
bowl and set those aside. And then for our third choice, I like to use a mixed jar
of Mediterranean olives, and you’re just gonna give it a good shake with some red pepper flakes. And then as a nice counterbalance, I like to add some fresh parsley. That way you get the
combination of the spiciness of the red pepper flakes and
the coolness of the parsley, and it’s just a really winning taste. To serve, you’re gonna take
your three little bowls, put them on a platter, and voila, you’ve got an
instant olive bar ready to go. So now for our third appetizer idea, my Sweet and Salty Honey Cashews. It’s another one that’s delicious, and comes together in minutes. What you’re first gonna do, is melt some butter and
some honey in the microwave. Then you’re gonna add some brown sugar, and some salt, give it a good stir, take that mixture and
pour it over your cashews, giving them a good toss just so that they’re all well coated. You’re gonna pop those in the oven, just for about 10 to 15 minutes. You wanna stir periodically, just to make sure that the
nuts are browning on all sides. When those nuts are ready, you’re then going to transfer
them to a serving bowl, and then I like to garnish with a little extra sea salt on top. So there you have it, iheartangelawillis, I hope that these appetizer ideas have given you good
reason to have people over and give them a try. Let me know what you think, I think you guys will find that
these appetizers are quick, they’re easy, affordable, and come together in minutes. I’ll see you guys back here next week, when I’m gonna share with
you a Cheap Eats for Vegans, a delicious recipe you won’t wanna miss. I’ll see you then. (acoustic music)

  • i love your recipes! I made a french dinner party and it went great, just the meat and mashed potato dish was a bit watery … next time i'll cook down the meat sauce a bit more πŸ™‚ that was a fall french menu, could you do a spring one, that would be a bit lighter? Since i started watching your videos i'm hosting dinner parties every firsth saturday of the month … i love it and my friends love it even more πŸ™‚

  • Oh wow, this is great! But which cheese could I use instead of the goat one? (I am allergic to it!)

Thank you so much for the amazing recipes, I really enjoy your videos!

  • oh! and also do you mind covering tips or how to for beginners who want to grow their own herbs? Basil, rosemary, oregano, and parsley?

  • Aw love hearing that! And yes cooking down the beef mixture is the right idea for next time πŸ™‚ Love the idea of a spring French menu! Sure let's get that one on the list!

  • Funny you should ask. I'm actually planning a Tea Party Show for Kin Community. I was going to save it for a Christmas Tea, but maybe it's better for a Baby/Bridal Shower theme and shoot it sooner? Anyway, a great tea party in my opinion has 3 courses. Light Tea Sandwiches (cucumber, dill and cream cheese, radishes and herb butter etc) Raisin Scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam and of course mini desserts. I'll be covering all these recipes in my tea party show. Stay tuned!!

  • Hi Beth! I'm currently trying to put on some weight but without eating "fatty" foods, do you have any recipes that are nutritious, low fat but won't make you lose weight?

  • I asked my husband How dyu think Beth looks so fit & fine even after so much cheese in her recipes? He thought for a while & said "Maybe she only cooks & only tastes". Seriously beth how dyu maintain? πŸ™‚

  • looks delicious and simple enough..!!!!
I can't wait for next weeks video!!
thank you for the effort Beth β™₯

  • I look forward to your posts every Saturday ! I watch them while I'm having my morning coffee ever Saturday before heading out to the Farmers Market ( and Trader Joe's ) here in Palm Springs ! Such great and easy ideas ! Love them and you !

  • oooh it looks so yummy! my parents love that kind of appetizers, I plan to make those for them πŸ˜‰ thank you Beth!

  • Your children and husband must be so lucky to have somebody like you in their lives, you seem so generous and full of life, and you come up with such great ideas. I can't believe you don't have billion views yet! Love videos, so much effort and work put into it! Love Sylvia

  • Aw thanks Sylvia, what a sweet comment πŸ™‚ And not to worry, I'm working on those billion views! LOL! xx B

  • LOL! Ya think? I wasn't sure about it, but glad you liked it πŸ™‚ I feel better about it now! Ha ha ha

  • Ha! Well here's my secret, I really limit my intake of "wheat" during the week. So not a lot of pasta or bread, and then during the weekend I kinda forget all that and eat whatever we all feel like. It sounds like a strange system, but ever since having my kids, going wheat-free now and again, or just cutting back on it, has done WONDERS for my husband and I. If you look on my channel under the healthy section, that's really what I live on M-F, soups, stews, stir fries. Does the trick! πŸ™‚

  • Sure! If you look on my channel's "homepage" under the healthy section, there are some great ones in there. My faves are the chicken stew, the shrimp stir fry, the Minestrone soup, all great healthy choices that are nutritious without being "diet food". Enjoy! πŸ™‚

  • How absolutely PERFECT! My parents will be visiting me in the next couple of days and we LOVE our appetizers! LOVELY! xoxo

  • I have a question that feels so silly to ask, but I was wondering if you had any tips on how to meal plan for the week and create a solid grocery list from that. I go to the grocery store pretty willy-nilly and I would like to figure out how to meal plan in order to do some time saving, healthy dishes. Thanks for you help Beth.

  • can we replace the honey with something else? i know that honey becomes toxic on high temperatures when it`s cooked.

  • I think so! Tea Parties are so prevalent this time of year with the baby showers and weddings coming up. Also, tea party foods are great for summer and spring cause they are so light.

  • Love your videos, Beth! Do you think you might do an episode on recipes/things you can serve at "High Tea"? I know the usual is tea sandwiches, and scones, though I'd love to hear if you have your favorite recipes for them! Thanks so much again!

  • Oh my gosh. I just realized you had responded to something like this already! Sorry!! Haha. I can't wait to see the tea party show!

  • Ha ha! OK good! So happy you saw this before I had a chance to send it to you πŸ™‚ Hope these ideas help! xx Beth

  • Love your recipes and videos! I read on a previous video of yours that you have a crew of 6 working on the videos! Who does what? What all goes into making these videos? πŸ™‚

  • Ah yes it takes a small village! OK so we have 2 very talented camera operators, a camera assistant, a media manager who helps store and log all the footage we shoot, a culinary assistant that helps me get all the ingredients ready between takes (since we shoot 5 recipes in a day) and then an editor who edits all the footage, and this little group of talented people all make these videos what they are! I couldn't do it without them πŸ™‚

  • Ha no prob! Yes me too, I've been really wanting to do a Tea Party so that's definitely coming up!!

  • love your videos! I was hoping you could do a recipe on something Indian inspired? I've grown up with the food my entire life and have been experimenting with recipes i've seen my mom make over the years (but definitely can't master them as well as she has, obviously). But I find that I don't have much time to make some of them now that I'm living on my own and I would love to see your take on Indian cuisine! So do you have a recipe you can share that could satisfy my palate and my schedule?

  • Hello Beth
Today I was sitting in institute and it hit on me, that I got no clue what kind of skillet suits one or another recipe, I just use those, my mom had bought for her use. Maybe you could once make a video on how to pick right range of kitchen crockery πŸ™‚ how many skillets one should have to successfuly cope with most of recipies and how they should look, what coating they should or should not have. THANK YOU A LOT for your amazing recipies!!!!

  • Looks yummy I plan to try the cashews tomorrow…Beth do you know how to make Spanish hot chocolate? I would like to try it and would love to get a good recipe that will taste authentic.

  • wow, 5 recipes in a day? where do most of them go? we only see about one recipe in a week! I would love to see some of your recipes!

  • Hmmm, not sure is that like Mexican Hot Chocolate? I haven't made it before but I think it has some spice to it? I think I actually saw a recipe for that on Tastemade's channel. You may check there πŸ™‚ They have great videos too πŸ™‚

  • This is a great idea and something I really want to do soon! Because there are so many gadgets out there that you really don't need. I was thinking of calling it Beth Top 10 Essential Kitchen Items and then count them down πŸ™‚

  • Oh you'll see them all πŸ™‚ We shoot 5 for 5 weeks of content πŸ™‚ More affordable that way πŸ™‚ Rather than shooting and hiring a crew each week. πŸ™‚

  • No, its thick and they serve it in Spain with churro's, I have seen some recipes with cornstarch and some without just wanted the correct one because it looks yummy. Thanks for your help though.

  • Meghanrosette sent me! She wants you to do a 'paleo' or grain free/gluten free/dairy free, full meal video!

  • Its 2:30 in the morning and I am hooked and salivating over all these recipes! Would I be able to request a couple of recipes I could put together for a family dinner? Something that is hearty(preferably with maybe steak, lamb or lamb chops as the main focus) and is quick and easy to make. I'm 17 years old; also the youngest member of the family, who is living with my parents, brother and sister and would love to give back and prepare a nice dinner for everyone! πŸ˜€

  • Aw you are the BEST for wanting to do that πŸ™‚ your family would LOVE that! I have 2 great menus for you. In my Kin Community Party Menu Playlist. Either My Easter Lunch (with lamb) or my Summer garden Party (with Chicken) Or My Make Ahead Fall French Menu is great too, and REALLY easy! Good luck and keep me posted! πŸ™‚

  • Ha! Ya think? πŸ™‚ I was concerned it might look a little granny? But glad to know someone out there liked it! πŸ™‚

  • Hey Beth, I decided to cook for my family for Christmas. Would you recommend any recipe? I would love to see videos πŸ™‚

  • this looks amazing!!! and I love your blouse!Β youΒ  need to tell us where you shop because I love your taste in fashion as well!

  • Everything looks fantastic but I've got a question.
For the cashew recipe, in the finished dish, do the cashews remain sticky to the touch from the honey or does the honey change consistency and dry onto the nuts during the baking process?

  • Beth your videos are such a delight to watch and each dish you make is so beautiful. You got me hooked to all your recipes. NamastΓ©!
